My name is David and I live in Queensland. I was a Trade Qualified Chef and had been for over 16 Years. I had for the past twenty years been a moderately heavy user of cannabis, sometimes smoking every day and using about half an ounce ($200) worth a week to cope with stress and insomnia. This had an increased effect on my life in ways such as, mood swings and an inability to deal successfully with little frustrations. One problem with such an addiction is total denial of the addiction and inability to break my habit. About 18 months ago my partner and I discussed seeking treatment for my addiction and related depressive state. We talked about seeking treatment and advice from my doctor, who offered anti-depressants as a solution. My mother had been addicted to anti-depressants for many years before her death and I did not want to go down the same road, i.e. becoming a pill addict thereby replacing one harmful substance with another. I sought advice from the Mental Health Board and from a Chinese herbalist, both without satisfactory results. Then about 15 months ago my partner’s father introduced us to noni juice from Tahiti, and suggested that we try a bottle. I had previously tried Kava Kava and Valerian tablets to help with sleep and Guarana for increased energy. So as noni is natural I thought I would give it a try. To my surprise within two days I noticed a change in myself. My mood swings were less noticeable, I was sleeping better, my energy levels had increased and I was thinking much clearer. Over the next six months my health improved (both mental and physical) and my cannabis intake steadily decreased. I could not stop telling people about the wonders of the noni. Then just before New Years 2002 my partner decided to quit smoking cigarettes, after over 16 years. I was very happy for her as we both knew that this would be great for her health. I told her that I would like to stop smoking cannabis and together we stopped smoking on January 1, 2002. That was it. I stopped smoking cold turkey over 15 months ago and have had no cravings or need for substitute addiction and all I can attribute it to be because of the noni juice. I have now completed Certificate 2 and 3 in Information Technology and I am currently doing a 15 month course in Multimedia and am looking forward to a happy healthy future.
